Installing
a
combination-form-factor
expansion
card
The
combination-form-factor
expansion
card
consists
of
two
parts,
the
combination-form-factor
vertical
(CFFv)
card
and
the
combination-form-factor
horizontal
(CFFh)
card.
To
install
a
combination-form-factor
expansion
card,
complete
the
following
steps:
1.
Read
the
safety
information
that
begins
on
page
“Safety”
on
page
v
and
“Installation
guidelines”
on
page
17.
2.
Shut
down
the
operating
system,
turn
off
the
blade
server,
and
remove
the
blade
server
from
the
BladeCenter
unit.
See
“Removing
the
blade
server
from
the
BladeCenter
unit”
on
page
19
for
instructions.
3.
Carefully
lay
the
blade
server
on
a
flat,
static-protective
surface.
4.
Open
the
cover
(see
“Opening
the
blade
server
cover”
on
page
20
for
instructions).
5.
Install
the
CFFv
card:
The
following
illustration
shows
how
to
install
a
CFFv
expansion
card
into
the
blade
server;
installing
a
combination-form-factor
expansion
card
in
a
MPE
unit
is
similar.
a.
Locate
the
I/O-expansion
card
connector
(see
“Blade
server
connectors”
on
page
14).
b.
Orient
the
CFFv
card
over
the
I/O-expansion
card
connector.
c.
Press
the
CFFv
card
into
the
I/O-expansion
card
connector.
6.
Install
the
CFFh
card:
The
following
illustration
shows
how
to
install
a
CFFh
expansion
card
into
the
blade
server;
installing
a
combination-form-factor
expansion
card
in
a
MPE
unit
is
similar.
