Note:

It is recommended that the computer be placed on its left side before
performing this service procedure. Rotate the feet in toward the computer so
they do not detach due to the weight of the computer.

To remove the top/side cover, do the following:

1.

Power-off the computer, if it is on.

2.

Unplug the computer.

3.

Remove the cover (see “Removing the side cover” on page 48).

4.

Remove the front bezel (see “Front bezel removal” on page 78).

5.

Remove the handle assembly (see “Handle assembly removal” on page 77).

6.

Remove the four screws from the back of the computer and put them in a safe
place.

7.

Using a screwdriver, gently pry the cover away from the computer in the rear
and slide the unit away from the computer.
