Installation guidelines

Before you install the storage expansion enclosure in a rack cabinet, review the following guidelines:

v

This product is to be installed and serviced only by qualified IBM service representatives.

v

Because of the size and weight of the storage enclosure as shipped, a lift tool and a minimum of two
trained service technicians are required to push the enclosure out of its custom-designed package and
onto the lift tool.

v

The storage expansion enclosure must not be installed in a rack position where the top of the unit is
above 32U or the bottom of the unit is above the 29U mark on the rack cabinet.

v

Make sure that the room air temperature is below 25°C (77°F). The operating temperature for optimal
performance is 22°C (72°F) or lower.

v

Do not block any air vents; usually 15 cm (6 in.) of space provides proper airflow.
