Installing
a
fan
The
server
supports
up
to
six
hot-swap
cooling
fans.
The
server
comes
with
five
fans
that
service
the
primary
microprocessor
and
the
DIMMs.

If
you
install
a
second
microprocessor
in
the
server,
you
must
install
one
additional
fan.
If
you
must
replace
a
failed
fan,
see
the
instructions
in
the
Problem
Determination
and
Service
Guide
.
Attention:
To
ensure
proper
operation,
replace
a
failed
fan
as
soon
as
possible.
To
install
an
additional
hot-swap
fan,
complete
the
following
steps:
1.
Read
the
safety
information
that
begins
on
page
v
and
“Installation
guidelines”
on
page
23.
2.
Lift
the
two
fan
doors
on
the
top
of
the
server.
3.
Orient
the
new
fan
over
its
position
in
the
fan
assembly
bracket
so
that
the
airflow
indicator
on
the
orange
pull
tab
at
the
top
of
the
fan
points
to
the
rear
of
the
server.
