Chapter 4. Checkpoints

Checkpoints let users and service personnel know what the server is doing, with some
detail, while it initializes. These checkpoints are not intended to be error indicators, but
in some cases, a server could hang at one of the checkpoints without displaying an
8-character error code. It is for these hang conditions, only, that any action should be
taken regarding checkpoints. The most appropriate action is included with each
checkpoint.

Before taking actions listed with a checkpoint, it is a good idea to look for more
appropriate symptoms in the service processor error log. See “System Information
Menu” on page 196. To access the System Information Menu, refer to “Privileged User
Menus” on page 187.

Unresolved Checkpoint Problems

Go to “MAP 1540: Minimum Configuration” on page 63 for any of the following
problems:

v

A 4-digit code in the range of E000 through EFFF is displayed on the operator panel
display but is not listed in “Service Processor Checkpoints” on page 86 or “Firmware
Checkpoints” on page 92.

v

A 4-digit code is displayed and is listed in “Service Processor Checkpoints” on
page 86 or “Firmware Checkpoints” on page 92, but there are no repair actions or
FRUs listed for the code.

v

All of the FRUs listed in the repair actions have been replaced, and the problem has
not been resolved.
