nature of the Reed counters, it is
inadvisable to use 1imp./1m3 counters
or counters similar for the reading
characteristics of the controller.
4.8 – Reset
The controller may be influenced by the
following events: the battery being flat,
an exceptionally strong electro-magnetic
disturbance. (above the limits set by the
regulation EN 50082-1), the manipulation
of the PC board with the hands, a short-
circuit between the connections of the
DIN sockets.
These events may cause one of the
following problems; the “out of
programme” or the “latch up”.
In the first case, the RAM memory inside
the micro-controller is “soiled” by the
disturbance with unpredictable results;
there may be the total block of the
controller, anomalous working or the
alteration of the functioning parameters.
In the second case, the micro-controller
autonomously goes into a particular
condition “latch up”, which allows it to
protect itself from potential damage.
In both cases the operator must intervene
manually to resolve the blocked situation.
The figs. 10 and 11 show the point at
which to intervene to resolve the block
conditions described above.
The first operation to carry out when the
controller is apparently off, or when it is
working in an irregular way, is the so-
called “software” reset.
This consists of pressing the “software”
reset key on the panel (fig. 1).
If this operation does not produce the
required result, proceed to the second
type of reset, the “hardware” reset.
This consists of keeping in short circuit for
a few seconds the points A1 and A2
shown in fig. 11 when the supply
transformer of the controller is not
attached to the electricity supply.
Once this has been done, connect the
supply transformer to the electricity supply
and check that the controller comes on
immediately or after the reset key has
been pressed.
If the controller does not come on, consult

parts holding the al micro switch are
intact. (Fig. 12).
• Micro switch damaged.
Open the box and check (Fig. 12):
that the micro switch is intact;
that it is correctly positioned;
the correct positioning of the terminals;
that the connection wires are intact;
that the lever of the micro switch is intact.
• The cam is out of position. Open the
box (Fig. 12) and check that the metal
seeger holding the cam is intact and
well positioned in its slot.
Check that the cam moves the lever of
the micro switch (turning it by hand).
The controller does not regenerate.
• The controller is badly programmed.
Check that the programming is correct.
Incorrect parameters are visualised.
• The controller is out of programme
The controller must be reset, following
the instructions in par. 4.8
In fig. 12 the micro switch, its mechanical
fixing and control details and the
terminals connecting it to the controller
can be seen clearly.
In fig. 13 the installation of the litre counter
probe on a V132 valve when the cable
is fitted in the box of the controller can
be seen.
4.9 – Test of the automatic regeneration
start-up
To test the automatic start-up of the
regeneration, proceed as follows:
- Case 1, start-up of the regeneration by
time:
• In the steps 1 and 2 of tab. 3,
programme 0000 as Start time of the
regeneration.
• In the step 3 of tab. 3, programme F-01
come interval in days between two
regenerations.
• In the step 9 of tab. 3, press Advance
to have the led Time turned on.
• Exit from the programming and press
Reset.
• Set the local time to 23.59 and wait for
the clock to reach midnight.
• When the clock reaches midnight the
regeneration should start.
- Case 2, start-up of the regeneration by
volume:
• In the steps 1 and 2 of tab. 3,
programme 0000 as Start time of the
regeneration.
• In the steps 4 and 5 of tab. 3,
programme 0002 as treatable volume.
• In the steps 6 and 7 of tab. 3,
programme 0000 as value of reserve.
• In the step 9 of tab. 3, press Advance
to have both the leds Time and Volume
turned on.
• Exit from the programming and press
Volume / Clock to change the
visualisation of the display from clock to
volume.
• Press Reset, on the display the volume
programmed should appear, that is 0002.
• Using the magnetic sensor cable and
a SIATA turbine, move the volume to zero.
• Press the key Volume / Clock to change
the visualisation of the display from
volume to clock.
• Set the time to 23.59 and wait for the
clock to reach midnight.
• When the clock reaches midnight, the
regeneration should start. N.B.: To carry
out the tests described it is important that
the controller has the limit micro-switch
correctly connected and operative. For
this reason, it is recommended that the
controller be used mounted in its box.
5 – SOLUTION OF PROBLEMS
Indicated below are some basic
operations intended for the solution of
small problems which may arise during
the use of Xp Mode. As a general rule, it
is advisable to check the anomaly
encountered by replacing the PC board
with a new one or with one which is sure
to be working (obviously within the limits
of practical possibilities). It is important to
be able to distinguish the cause of the
malfunctioning between electronic,
mechanical or related to the wiring. The
replacement of the PC board is already
of help in pinpointing the actual cause
of the defect. If the suggestions given
here do not provide a solution to the
problem, contact the SIATA service
assistance.
The controller does not come on.
• Supply socket not working.
Plug of the transformer broken.
Transformer broken.
Check by connecting any other type of
appliance to the same socket and the
controller to another socket.
• Problem with the wiring.
Open the box and check that the wires
are correctly inserted into the 7 pole
connector.
• The controller is blocked.
Carry out the reset procedures in
accordance with par. 4.8
The motor does not stop at the stroke end.
• Damaged plastic pieces.
Open the box and check that the plastic
