Quick trouble shooting
•
Producing too much foam or clear skimate:
•
Check for too much water going through the system and adjust the drainage tube. (fig.13)
•
Reduce air flow.
•
Not producing enough foam:
•
Check for low water flow and adjust;
•
Check for low air intake and adjust;
•
Check if the pump is functioning correctly, if not refer to the maintenance section;
•
Too many bubbles in the tank:
•
This might happen at the very beginning of the setup of the skimmer. The bubbles will disappear
once this skimming process becomes stable, this can take up to 10 days.
•
Noisy pump:
•
Make sure that the pump is not positioned too close to the sump glass or position some rubber
between the pump and the side.
•
Carry out pump cleaning/maintenance procedure
•
Foaming pump has stopped:
•
Hydor pumps are equipped with a safety thermal protector. It may happen, that if the pump/s is dirty,
encrusted, with worn out impellers they might heat up. To avoid overheating of the motor and
possible breakage, the thermal protector blocks the electrical supply to the pump and restart it
only when the pump has cooled down. Should a foaming pump stop, disconnect it from the
electrical supply, detach the pump from the skimmer and carry out cleaning/maintenance procedures
and reassemble.
