the shearboxes. The upper half of the specimen is connected to a
bracket at the opposite side of the geared jack. This bracket requires
a measuring device to provide an opposing force to the upper
shearbox half, affixed to the reaction bracket of the base.
The standard measuring devices are the load ring and dial gauges.
The load rings are of either 2kN or 5kN capacity. Each load ring is
supplied with a dial gauge for measuring deflection in the load ring.
One additional dial gauge is required to measure the displacement of
the upper and lower shearbox halves.
The power ON/OFF switch is located at the rear of the apparatus.
When it is switched “ON” the Liquid Crystal Display (LCD) is
illuminated.
