Installing the system

7. Connect the USB cable to an available USB

port on your computer.

Note:

After the USB modem driver is

installed, your system may appear to freeze for
a short time. This is expected and may occur if
the driver takes several seconds to initiate.
Follow the on-screen instructions.

8. During the installation of DIRECWAY,

Windows may ask for the location of certain
system files. Windows groups system files into
sets called cabinet files. The cabinet files have
the

.cab

extension and may have been

included by your computer manufacturer in the

c:\windows\options\cabs

directory.

If you do not have

.cab

files on your hard

drive you will need to insert the Windows
operating system CD and identify the path to
the

.cab

files as shown in Figure 14.

If you have a Windows 98SE CD, point to the
Win98 folder.

If you have a Windows ME CD, point to the
Win9x folder.

For example, if your CDROM drive were
labeled D and you were using the Windows
98SE CD, enter

d:\win98

when prompted.
