•
Once mechanism has returned to its lowest position, release the clamp which will
return the bin to the ground from where it can be safely wheeled away.
•
Never place body parts (notably arms, hands and fingers) in the area of the clamping
mechanism.
Isolation for intervention, maintenance and repair
•
Before accessing any parts of the machine/equipment for purposes of unblocking,
maintenance or repair, ensure tilting mechanism is in its lowered position, stop engine,
depressurise hydraulics and high pressure water, and isolate energy sources as
fo
llows (in accordance with the user’s own isolation procedures):
o
Prevent machine/engine from starting by disconnection of battery
o
Disconnect electrical connection (plug & socket) from towing vehicle.
Slipping, tripping and falling
•
The unit is designed to minimise spillage by containing and recycling the majority of
cleaning water.
•
Locate the machine ideally on solid, slip resistant surfaces.
•
Remain aware of the potential for ice and snow during cold conditions and take
appropriate precautions for the location.
•
Look out for and fix any leaks which may become apparent, and regularly clean
surroundings to keep surfaces as dry as practicable, especially around bin loading /
unloading areas.
•
Protective (slip and crush resistant) waterproof footwear should always be worn.
•
Only use the minimum wash hose length necessary and locate so as to minimise the
potential for tripping.
•
Use warning signs regarding slipping and tripping hazards around work areas as
assessed to be necessary.
Manual handling
– manually moving unit including coupling and decoupling from
towing vehicles.
Apply the following precautions when carrying out these activities:
•
Ensure that jockey wheel clamp lever is fully tightened to prevent wheel falling when in
“up” position and to prevent slipping when in “down” position (which could cause the
drawbar to fall).
•
Do not get limbs or feet beneath drawbar where they could be harmed in the event of it
falling.
•
Always use vehicle to move unit where possible. Move manually only on smooth level
surfaces with assistance as necessary.
•
Always ensure application of handbrake when not coupled to vehicle (before
decoupling, after coupling) unless moving manually under full control.
•
Do not get between trailer and tow vehicle when coupling and keep body parts away
from potential trap points.
•
The towbar nose weight is up to 95kg laden. When coupling/ decoupling use the
raise/lower function of the jockey wheel to raise/lower the tow coupling above the tow
ball on the vehicle and remember to disconnect electrics and safety cable.
•
After coupling check that the drawbar is securely locked on to the tow ball, the jockey
wheel is raised and secured, the electrics are connected and that the safety cable is
attached to the tow vehicle before moving off.
Electricity and Electrical Hazards
– shock, fire, burns etc.
•
Only trained and competent persons, as authorised by the user, are permitted to
access electrical panels or equipment or carry out electrical work.
