9. MAINTENANCE, SERVICING & ADJUSTMENT
9.1 GENERAL AND SAFETY
When maintaining or assembling pressure washing hoses and attachments, it is essential
to use the correct size of tools. Tools such as Stillson wrenches should be avoided
wherever possible and correctly fitting spanners employed instead. Serrated gripping jaws
damage equipment and leave sharp edges, which can easily cut the operator.
Cleanliness of all equipment is of paramount importance to ensure reliability and
ultimately the safety of equipment employed. After use it is essential that all equipment is
clean and prepared for the next usage. Particular attention should be paid to clean hoses
and assemblies, jets, couplings exposed threads and any such associated tooling.
WARNING
NEVER ATTEMPT TO ADJUST OR CLEAN ANY PART OF THE MACHINE WITH THE
ENGINE RUNNING. ALWAYS STOP THE ENGINE AND RETURN THE TILTING
MECHANISM TO ITS LOWERED POSITION BEFORE CARRYING OUT ANY
MAINTENANCE OR ADJUSTMENTS.
The following operations should only be carried out by fully trained and competent service
personnel.
i) Adjustments of relief valve pressures.
ii) Adjustments of engine speed.
iii) Adjustment of any pressure control or bypass valves.
v) Replacement or repair of any flexible or rigid pipework connected to the high pressure
pump or hydraulic system.
vi) Repair or fitting of any couplings or swage fittings to jet hose assemblies.
vii) Repair or replacement of any parts carrying high pressure fluid, such as rotating
swivel assemblies, connectors, compression fittings or elbows.
9.2 WATER PUMP :
Refer to Pump Manufacturer’s Instructions.
9.3 UNLOADER:
Refer to Valve Manufacturer’s Instructions.
Under no circumstances should any adjustments be made to the Unloader valve as
serious damage to engine, gearbox or pump could result.
