Function Modules

8.11.5  Interface Cable

The external interface of 2FXS/2FXO/2E&M is a standard RJ-45 connector.

The cable for 2FXS/2FXO is a standard analog telephone cable, both ends of which are
RJ-11 connectors. The cable for 2E&M needs to be selected according to the type of
switch to be connected.

When you select to install 2FXS, connect the other end of the cable to the ordinary
analog telephone set.

When you select to install 2FXO, connect the other end of the cable to the subscriber
line of the switch, or the external line as we often call it.

When you select to install 2E&M, connect the other end of the cable to the E&M trunk
cable of the switch.

  Caution:

You have to select the 2FXS/2FXO/2E&M cables when you purchase 2FXS/2FXO/2E&M, for such cables
are optional and are not shipped with the modules.

II. E&M interface cable

The E&M of R2600/3600 series modular router supports Bell I, II, III, V switches, and
2-wire&4-wire audio frequency.

It is recommended to use Bell V 4-wire audio frequency to communicate with the router
in practice.

The sequence of E&M RJ-45 pinouts is shown in the following figure, numbered 1 to 8
from left to right:
