Therefore, at least 6000 MB space must be reserved in the storage pool of the primary storage
array and at least 18000 MB space must be reserved in the storage pool of the secondary
storage array. If a primary/secondary switchover is required, at least 18000 MB space must be
reserved in the storage pools of both the primary and secondary storage arrays.
NOTE
l
The size of each data block written by the host must be considered during reserved space planning.
If the COW granularity for host I/Os is 64 KB and the size of each data block written by the host is
smaller than 64 KB, the reserved space for COW must be larger than the amount of data written by
the host during the copy period.
l
If an incremental synchronization is implemented after the remote replication session is interrupted
due to manual splitting or external faults, the space required for COW on the secondary storage
array equals the amount of service data delivered by the primary storage array during the
synchronization or the LUN capacity at most.
9.8 Impact of Modifying Consistency Group Properties
Question
What impact does modifying consistency group properties have on pairs in the consistency
group?
Answer
After the properties of a consistency group are modified, the properties of pairs in the
consistency group keep unchanged. However, the working properties depend on the properties
of the consistency group. After a member whose rate is
Medium
is added to a consistency
group and the rate of the consistency group is changed to
High
, the displayed rate of the
member remains
Medium
but its actual working rate is
High
. After the member exits the
consistency group, its working rate is
Medium
.
9.9 When Performing a Remote Replication Task, Is an
Initial Synchronization Required to Synchronize Data
from the Primary Storage System to the Secondary Storage
System
Question
When performing a remote replication task, is an initial synchronization required to
synchronize data from the primary storage system to the secondary storage system?
Answer
Initial synchronization is recommended to make the data on the primary system consistent
with that on the secondary system. However, if you are absolutely sure that the two sets of
data are exactly the same, you can skip this operation.
