3 Connecting Cables

A controller enclosure can be connected to application servers using front-end ports (8 Gbit/s, 16 Gbit/s, or 32
Gbit/s Fibre Channel, 10GE, 10 Gbit/s FCoE, GE electrical, 10GE electrical, 56 Gbit/s InfiniBand, 25GE, 40GE,
or 100GE).

10GE electrical interface modules support GE/10GE auto-sensing.

The following figures are examples of cable connections. The details like cable appearance and types of
interface modules may be different from those at your site.

The following figures illustrate the network cable connection and optical fiber cable connection. If a storage
system is equipped with multiple system cabinets, connect the controller enclosures in the other system
cabinets to application servers as instructed in this section based on site requirements. For details about how to
