hood cover sensor
The hood cover sensor is an optional feature that is a combination of hardware and software
technology that can alert you when the workstation hood cover has been removed. This option is
available as a kit that includes the solenoid hood cover lock (see the following section). There are
three levels of protection, as described in the following table.

To set the hood cover sensor protection level, complete the following steps:
1. Turn on or restart the workstation.
2. When the
F10=Setup
message appears in the lower-right corner of the screen, press the
F10
key. Press
Enter
to bypass the title screen, if necessary.
NOTE:
If you do not press the
F10
key while the message is displayed, you must restart the
workstation to access the utility.
3. Select Security, then hood cover, and follow the instructions on the screen.
4. Before exiting, click File > Save Changes and Exit.
solenoid hood cover lock
The solenoid hood cover lock is available as an option on hp workstation xw4100 models (this
options comes as a kit that includes the hood cover sensor). When installed, the solenoid hood
cover lock can prevent unauthorized access to the internal components.

CAUTION: For maximum cover lock security, be sure to establish a setup password. The setup password
prevents unauthorized access to the Computer Setup utility.
hood cover sensor protection levels
level setting description
Level 0 hood cover = Disabled hood cover sensor is disabled (default).
Level 1 hood cover = Notify User When the workstation is restarted, the
screen displays a message indicating that
the workstation hood cover has been
removed.
Level 2 Setup Password = enabled
and
hood cover = notify user When the workstation is restarted, the
screen displays a message indicating that
the workstation hood cover has been
removed. You must enter the setup password
to continue.
