Removal and replacement procedures 64
WARNING: The computer contains an internal lithium manganese dioxide, a vanadium
pentoxide, or an alkaline battery pack. A risk of fire and burns exists if the battery pack is not
properly handled. To reduce the risk of personal injury:
• Do not attempt to recharge the battery.
•
Do not expose the battery to temperatures higher than 60°C (140°F).
•
Do not disassemble, crush, puncture, short external contacts, or dispose of in fire or water.
• Replace only with the spare designated for this product.
To remove the component:
1.
Power down the server (on page 27 ).
2.
Remove all power:
a.
Disconnect each power cord from the power source.
b.
Disconnect each power cord from the server.
3.
Do one of the following:
o
Extend the server from the rack (on page 28 ).
o
Remove the server from the rack (on page 30 ).
4.
Remove the access panel (" Access panel " on page 37 ).
5.
If there is a secondary PCI riser cage installed and an expansion board is installed on it, remove the
secondary PCI riser cage ("
Remove the PCI riser cages " on page 31 ).
6.
Locate the battery on the system board (" System board components " on page 102 ).
7.
If the system battery is secured by a metal tab, do the following:
a.
Use your finger or a small flat-bladed, nonconductive tool to press the metal tab. This will partially
release the battery from the socket.
b.
Remove the battery.
8.
If the system battery is secured by a plastic outer lip, do the following:
a.
Use a small flat-bladed, nonconductive tool to carefully lift the front of the battery from the socket.
