MtcScsiP and MtcScsiR Messages
IOPn.MtcScsiP status: Unable to write one or more sectors SECTORn – SECTORm for DISKn. Note: the write
request did not come from the CEs.
Variables
n – the disk number; for example, DISK0, DISK1, DISK2
SECTORn – the starting sector in the range of sectors
SECTORm – the ending sector in the range of sectors
Severity
Error
Description
HP NetServer AA SCSI software executing on the IOPs issues background write requests to
disks that are redirected to the CEs. These writes are usually the result of mirror copy activity,
and are not related to CE write requests. A write error of this type will cause a mirror copy to
halt. However, unless the disk is a mirror copy target, the disk will remain online and available
to the CEs. Mirror copy targets will transition from online to offline if write errors are
encountered during a mirror copy.
Action
If the write error occurred in the target disk during a mirror copy, the target disk may need
replacement.
•
Try restarting the mirror copy by enabling the target disk. If the mirror copy completes
successfully, then the error was transient. However, it is a good idea to verify the SCSI
termination and SCSI device connections are correct.
•
If the mirror copy does not complete, and the physical SCSI connections are correct,
consider reformatting the data partitions on the disk in Offline
HP NetServer AA
I/O
Processor Mode. Because this will cause loss of data, it should only be attempted for
target disks.
•
If a reformat does not clear the problem, replace the disk, or contact your service provider
for assistance.
•
If the write error occurred in the source disk during a mirror copy or if no mirror copy was
active, review the event log, looking for previous messages for write error indications.
IOPn.MtcScsiP status: Unable to write to Registry. Contact your service provider for assistance.
Severity
Error
Description
The SCSI Provider was unable to write a value to the Registry. This error may indicate the
Registry on the local IOP is corrupt or incomplete.
Action
•
Repair a corrupt Registry using your Windows NT emergency repair disk or by using
other Windows NT repair areas, but only if they have been kept up-to-date.
•
Otherwise, you may need to perform a full Windows NT install on the IOP. Refer to
Windows NT documentation for more details.
