The following sections describe the ports, buttons, and indicator LEDs for HP ProCurve 2610-24
and 2610-48 switches.
2.6.1.1 Network Ports
HP ProCurve 2610 switches have 48 (the 2610-48 model) or 24 (the 2610-24 model) auto-sensing,
dual-speed ports that are spread across the front panel. To the right of these ports is a pair of
fixed triple-speed RJ-45 copper gigabit ports, and below these are two mini-GBIC slots that accept
fiber-optic cables. These are referred to as dual-personality ports because you can use either the
copper port or the corresponding fiber-optic port. Only two of these ports can be in action at any
one time. By default, the RJ-45 connectors are enabled. If a mini-GBIC is installed in a slot, it is
enabled and the associated RJ-45 connector is disabled. If the mini-GBIC is removed, the associated
RJ-45 port is automatically re-enabled.
Use the top row of ports on the HP ProCurve 2610-48 or 2610-24 switches for iLO connections.
Use the bottom row of ports for standard network connections, and use the gigabit ports to link
HP ProCurve switches together.
The HP ProCurve 2610 series switches also have a console port, allowing you to perform a variety
of switch management tasks. You can use this port to connect a console to the switch by using
an RJ-45 or DB9 cable. For more information, see Chapter 2 in the HP ProCurve Switch 2610 Series
Installation and Getting Started Guide.
2.6.1.2 Power, Fault, and Locator LEDs
The HP ProCurve 2610-24 and 2610-48 switches feature the following Power, Fault, and Locator
LEDs:
•
The green Power LED is green when the switch is receiving power. The green LED is off
when the switch is not receiving power. If this LED is flashing it indicates an internal power
supply failure. It should be simultaneously flashing with the Fault LED.
•
The orange Fault LED is off when the switch is operating correctly. A flashing orange LED
indicates that a fault has occurred with a component on the switch, such as a switch port,
the fan, or the EPS. The orange LED will be on briefly after the switch is powered on or reset;
if it is on for a long period of time, the switch has encountered a fatal hardware error or has
failed its self-test.
•
The blue Locator LED is used to find a specific switch is an area full of switches. You can
set this LED to be solid or flashing for a specified number of minutes. The default is 30
minutes.
2.6.1.3 RPS, Fan, and Test Status LEDs
The HP ProCurve 2610-24 and 2610-48 switches feature the following RPS, Fan, and Test status
LEDs:
•
The green/orange RPS status LED is on and green to indicate normal switch operation,
indicating that an external power supply is connected and operating normally. The external
power supply could be powering the unit. If the LED is not on then an external power supply
is not connected. A flashing orange LED indicates that an external power supply is connected,
