Physical Testing
Performing a Line Rate Test
The Line Rate test determines the line clock rate of the
communications channel. This is done by checking for the
difference in Hz between the line clock rate and aurora
Tempo
’s
internal precision clock.
You can set up a Line Rate Test from the
Physical Status
window. To do this:
• Press the function key labelled
Line Rate
(or press
MENU and select the
Line Rate
option from the
menu). The
Line Rate Test
window is displayed :
Starting the test
• Press F1
Start Line-Rate
(or press MENU and select
the
Start
option). The test begins and the following
is displayed :
Line Rate
the calculated line frequency from the
clock source. The nominal line rate for
the T1 interface is 1.544 Mbits/sec and
for the E1 interface it is 2.048 Mbits/
sec.
Deviation
displays the difference in Hertz between
the line clock rate and the line
frequency.
Rx Level
displays the received level indication (not
displayed for E1).
