Retightening the Fan Flange
The tapered bushing on the fan drive of the
hydraulic motor can come loose on the impeller
due to temperature fluctuations and settling of
material. The impeller may then move along the
drive shaft and destroy the fan.
Tighten the tapered bushing once
every 50 hours, then check once
year.
To tighten the bushing, you will need to remove
the screen on the fan.

Take care of the following when retightening the
clamping screws:
•
When tightening screw, especially with a
new assembly, the impeller will move out
towards the screen.
• A loose flange needs to be aligned closer
to the hydraulic motor.
• The clamping surfaces must be free of oil
and grease.
•
The clamping screws must be tightened
uniformly and in several steps, much like
that of the same practice used for
torqueing wheel bolts. While tightening,
you can lightly tap on the flange with a
plastic hammer to keep it aligned.
•
Torque to 5 ft./lbs.
•
Verify the impeller is unrestricted and
rotates freely.
