Class D Networks
The addresses from 224.xxx.xxx.xxx - 239.xxx.xxx.xxx are used as multicast addresses.
Class E Networks
The addresses from 240.xxx.xxx.xxx - 254.xxx.xxx.xxx are designated as "Class E" and are
reserved.
Gateway Address
The gateway or router address is required in order to be able to communicate with other net-
work segments. The standard gateway must be set to the router address which connects these
segments. This address must be within the local network.
Network Mask
The network mask is used to partition IP addresses outside of network classes A, B and C.
When entering the network mask it is possible to designate the number of bits of the IP-ad-
dress to be used as the network part and the number to be used as the host part, e.g.:
