System Testing
Your passcard number or code word is required whenever you call the Customer
Service Center.
1. Fire Alarm: Test the fire alarm portion of your system weekly!
a.
Very Important: Call the Honeywell Customer Service Center and tell
them you will be testing your equipment. Notify your family and neighbors.
b.
Locate the test point on your smoke detectors. Follow the instructions to
activate an alarm (for example, hold a magnet against the test point for 30
seconds).
c.
The fire alarm sounds and the fire message appears on the user keypad
display.
d.
Leave the system in alarm for about 30 seconds. Then enter your
passcode to silence the alarm. Press OK to reset the smoke detectors
and the user keypad display(s).
e.
Call the Customer Service Center to confirm that the test was successful.
Notify your family and neighbors that the test is complete.
2. FIRE, POLICE, and SPECIAL Emergency Buttons: Check weekly to make
sure that your emergency buttons are functioning and that the Customer
Service Center is receiving your security system signals.
a.
Very Important: Call the Honeywell Customer Service Center and tell them
you will be testing your equipment. Notify your family and neighbors.
b.
Press the FIRE, POLICE, and SPECIAL buttons, holding them each
for two seconds. If you have a wireless pendant, press and hold it for
two seconds.
c.
Enter your passcode to silence the alarms and reset the system.
d.
Call the Customer Service Center immediately to verify that the signals
were received.
e.
Call the Customer Service Center to confirm that the test was successful.
If you tested a wireless pendant, verify that two separate police signals
were received. Notify your family and neighbors that the test is complete.
3. Burglar Alarm: You should test the operation of your burglar alarm system
once a week.
a.
Test Signal Transmission to the Honeywell Customer Service Center
1)
Very Important: Call the Honeywell Customer Service Center and
tell them you will be testing your equipment. Notify your family and
neighbors.
2)
Arm your system. Allow the exit delay to expire. Open any point of
protection. Wait for the system to go into alarm.
3)
The burglar alarm sounds and an alarm message appears on the
user keypad display.
4)
Leave the system in alarm for about 30 seconds. Then enter your
passcode to silence the alarm.
5)
Call the Customer Service Center to confirm that the test was
successful.
