6.0 RIM AND TYRE IDENTIFICATION
Before starting to remove or mount the tyre it is ESSENTIAL to first identify the measurements of the rim and tyre
which have to coincide and ensure that neither of them is damaged.
ATTENTION: This is very important because if done properly the risk of the tyre bursting when bead breaking and
inflating is greatly reduced.
The diameter, width, Hump number etc., are printed on all rims.
Example: 8Jx15H2
A= 8 Nominal width of the rim in inches (1 inch=24.5mm)
B = j Flange size
C = 15 Nominal diameter of the rim in inches
D = H2 Double hump (anti-bead breaking edge)
A lot of information is given on the tyre among which the size, type, maximum
speed and so on.
Example:
205/65 R 15 91H TL

205 Tyre width, i.e. the distance between sides expressed in millimetres.

65 Ratio expressed as a percentage between the height of the section
and its width

R Tyre type (R = radial)

=
15 Tyre diameter in inches (wheel diameter) that must be the same as
the rim’s.

91 Maximum load that each wheel can bear.

H Maximum speed the tyre can reach. (H= 210Km/h)

TL Tubeless tyre
ATTENTION:
It is strictly forbidden to mount tyres on rims that have different me-
asurements (diameter and width). It is also forbidden to mount tyres
of a size different from what is specified on the car’s registration
papers.

6.1 VALVE POSITION
A rim is shown in the figure as if it were a clock.
Talking about the position of the valve or tools, reference is ALWAYS made to
these positions in the following working phases
ATTENTION:
So as not to damage the valve and pressure sensor, if mounted,
it is essential to put the valve in the position shown (following the
instructions) when bead breaking, removing and mounting.
