8. CLEANING AND CARE
8.1 Basic rules
Correct and regular cleaning will ensure safe operation and extend the life span of the
appliance.
CAUTION!!
Do not clean the appliance with any strong chemicals, alkali, abrasive or disinfecting
agents, as they may damage the surface of the appliance.
Do not use metal, sharp or rough cleaning accessories, as they may damage the surface
of the appliance!
Do not immerse the appliance or the power cord in water or other liquids.
Before you use the appliance again, make sure it is completely dry.
To extend the lifespan of the appliance and make sure that it remains in good working
order, it is recommended to wash after each use the parts that come into contact with
food.
Appliance cleaning
1. Disconnect the appliance from the power source.
2. Regularly wipe the appliance housing with a damp cloth.
Accessories cleaning
Attention! Do not wash parts of the appliance in a dishwasher.
1. Wash the dripping tray, the dripping grill, the measure with the tamper, the hose, the
portafilter, the milk frothing nozzle, and the basket filters under running water with
some mild detergent. Rinse the components thoroughly and leave till dry.
Cleaning the filter and the portafilter
1. Remove the portafilter from the appliance.
2. Lift and hold the filter basket lock.
3. Tap the filter basket to remove coffee grounds.
4. Lower the filter basket lock.
5. Remove the filter basket from the portafilter as described in section 7.4 Installing /
removing the filter basket.
6. Wash the portafilter and the filter as described under the Accessories cleaning item above.
Cleaning the grouphead
1. Wipe the the bottom part of the grouphead with a damp cloth or a paper towel to re-
move possible coffee remains.
2. Install the portafilter back in the appliance, without the filter basket.
3. Place a large empty cup under the grouphead.
Warning! Before performing cleaning and maintenance operations, turn
the appliance off, disconnect it from the power source and let it cool
down, so as to avoid burns and electric shock.
