by solid surfaces in the room.
The designer/installer shall provide reliable calculations for venting requirements for each system if
applicable, since experience has shown that most ordinary rooms have a sufficient leakage through
cracks around doors and windows, and a general porosity that will prevent noticeable pressure build
up.
In rooms that may be sealed or close to being sealed, a safe vent area for low-strength structures
can be estimated on the basis of the discharge flow rate.
8.5.7 Generator Choice and Location
The
FirePro Xtinguish
condensed aerosol generators shall be suitable for the intended purpose and
shall be placed within the protected enclosure in compliance with the instruction and limitations
contained in this manual with regard to spacing, floor coverage, thermal clearances and alignment.
The type of
FirePro Xtinguish
condensed aerosol generators selected, their number, and their
placement shall be such that the design application density will be established in all parts of the
hazard enclosure.
8.6 Preparing the Enclosure Prior to Aerosol Discharge
The following steps are necessary prior to discharge of the FirePro Xtinguish aerosol:
1) HVAC systems must be shut down. This allows the aerosol to reach the fire as quickly as
possible. May be automatically controlled by the fire alarm panel.
2) Power must be removed from all equipment, computers, servers, etc. This guarantees that there
will be no short-circuit situations following activation. May be automatically controlled by the fire
alarm panel.
3) Ventilate the room as soon as possible after discharge. This process will extract much of the
discharged aerosol and has the effect of reducing condensation rate and humidity.
8.7 Working in a Room or Enclosure Protected by FirePro Xtinguish
To avoid or reduce the possibility of unwanted false aerosol discharge as a result of human error, it is
important to disable the automatic detection network and/or isolate the
FirePro Xtinguish
system prior to
the start of contractual work. The control panel will indicate the off-normal condition while the system is
disabled. After the work has been completed and the enclosure returned to a normal condition, the
system must be enabled.
