7.16.2 Measurement of Roughness [Free]
The profile between two arbitrary points specified on the image is displayed. When selecting
the [Free] from the Measurement of roughness and moving the mouse cursor on the image
view, the mouse cursor becomes
.
Under such a condition, a blue line where the two points are connected is displayed when
clicking two arbitrary points on the image view. The profile of the line between two arbitrary
points is displayed in the profile view.

7.16.3 Display of Roughness Parameters
1. Displaying Procedure
Check the [Display values] of the Measurement of roughness to select the line of the
profile. Then, the measurement result of roughness to the profile displayed in the profile
view is displayed in the Measurement of roughness dialog. When selecting the other
profile line, the measurement result is added to the Measurement of roughness dialog.
The measurement result selected can be deleted from the Measurement of roughness
dialog by clicking the [Delete] button after selecting the measurement result displayed on
the Measurement of roughness dialog. The displayed roughness parameters are shown
as follows.
RSm: Mean Spacing of Profile Irregularities Rlr: Profile Lemgth Ratio
Rpm: Average Maximum Profile Peak Height Rv: Maximum Profile Valley Depth
Rp: Maximum Profile Peak Height Rms: Root Mean Square
Ra: Roughness Average Rz: Maximum Height of the Profile
Rz JIS: Average Maximum Height of the Profile (Japanese Industrial Standard)
lr: Sampling Length
See APPENDIX 1 Roughness Parameters.
