Note the flat top of the peaks.  (Depending on the precise optical and electronic 
configurations, this display might appear inverted.)  This feature is very distinctive, 
and by adjusting the retardation at half-wave to give the above waveform an 
accuracy of better than 1% can be achieved.  Figures A.4 and A.5 show waveforms
