Downloading NXF Firmware via PCI and Host Interface
5.8.1
Overview
This section describes how to download a LFW or a LOM firmware in NXF
format via the PCI interface of your development PC to the flash memory of
your NXHX 52-JTAG board via
Host Interface
by using the
cifX Driver
Setup Utility
and the
NXPCA-PCI Adapter Board
. This is an alternative
method to the procedure described in the
Serial Flash of the NXHX 52-JTAG via USB
on page 44.

.
The ready-made LFW EtherCAT slave NXF firmware for testing and
evaluation purposes (limited IO data exchange of 2 Bytes), which is
downloaded in this section, is stored on the product DVD in the
Examples
and API\Targets\LFW\1. LFW netX
Toolkit\Firmware\ETHERCAT
directory.

Prerequisites

You have installed the cifX Device Driver on your PC
(on the NXHX 52-JTAG product DVD, open the
Driver and
Toolkit\Device Driver (NXDRV-WIN)\Installation
directory,
then double-click
cifX Device Driver Setup.exe
file.
Follow the instructions of the installation wizard).
You have downloaded the
Second Stage Bootloader
to the NXHX
board (see section
Downloading Executable Binary Image to Serial
Flash of the NXHX 52-JTAG via USB
Note:
For this example using EtherCAT slave firmware, you need to have
downloaded a special SSBL file to the NXHX board beforehand. This is
the
NXHX52JTAG_2ndStageLoader_V1.4.12.1.bin
stored in the
Examples and API\Targets\LFW\1. LFW netX
Toolkit\Firmware\ETHERCAT\2nd Stage Loader
directory.
The NXHX board is connected to a voltage supply.
You have access to the NXF firmware file which you want to download.
