consistence and completeness are checked. IP defines special
addressing mechanisms; see IP address.
IP addresse
Identifies a device or a computer within an IP-based network and is
defined in the Internet Protocol Version 4 (IPv4) as a 32-bit number.
For ease of notation the address is usually divided into four 8-bit
numbers represented in decimal notation and separated by points:
a.b.c.d. Each letter stands for an integer value between 0 and 255,
e.g. 192.168.30.16. However, not all combinations are allowed, some
are reserved for special purposes. The IP address 0.0.0.0 is defined
as invalid.
ISDU
Indexed Service Data Unit: Used for acyclic transmission of
parameters (IO-Link wireless communication)
MAC-ID
Media Access Control-ID: unique (physical) Ethernet address of the
device on delivery, defined as 48 bit number; for ease of notation it is
divided into six 8 bit numbers which are represented in hexadecimal
notation and separated by “minus”-signs (-): A-B-C-D-E-F (A-B-C-D-
E-F each are integer values between 0 and 0XFF=255),

MQTT
Message Queue Telemetry Transport: publish-subscribe based "light
weight" M2M (machine to machine) messaging protocol for use on
top of the TCP/IP protocol and for telemetry data transmission with a
very low footprint. As protocol of the Internet of Things (IoT) it is
standardized by OASIS (Organization for the Advancement of
Structured Information Standards) since 2013. Additional features:
ease of use, efficient use of resources, security mechanisms, support
of several cloud-systems, session-aware, data-agnostic (i.e. flexible
structures allow to transmit multiple types of information

OPC UA
Open Platform Communications Unified Architecture; is a platform-
independent standard through which various kinds of systems and
devices can communicate by sending Messages between Clients and
Servers over various types of networks. It supports robust, secure
communication that assures the identity of Clients and Servers and
resists attacks.
OPC UA Server for
netPROXY
Task-based firmware component integrating the OPC Foundation C
stack, as well as an additional server layer from Hilscher for the
connection to netPROXY. This component is available as a LOM
(Linkable Object Module = library, the respective C-language headers
and a WAF script).
