HYDRAULIC POWER UNIT AND TENSIONING UNIT
6.1
Getting Started
[1.]
Inspect the entire unit for damage.
[2.]
Check the electrical system for bare wires and loose, frayed, or damaged cords. Have a qualified
electrician repair any damage before use. Failure to do so could result in severe shock or death to nearby
personnel.
[3.]
Check the reservoir sight level gauge for the proper level of hydraulic oil.
[4.]
Perform a daily inspection (see
Subsection 5.1 [Daily Maintenance]
).
[5.]
Completely familiarize yourself with this unit’s operating procedures.
WARNING
The back end of the strand jack cylinder should be slightly lower than the front end. When tension is
applied to the strand, the back end of the jack will rise and form a straight center line with the strand
being tensioned.
Failure to heed this warning could cause the jacking sleeve to deform and eventually fail, allowing the
strand jack to flip up.
WARNING
This power unit uses an electric motor as its prime mover. This unit also produces hot, high-pressure oil
which if released into atmosphere could cause death or serious injury.
