2 Description
2.2 Theory of Operation
The 300 ml Cartridge Dispenser should be pressurized from a LOCTITE
®
controller with
max. 4 bar (58 PSI). The piston of the pneumatic cylinder

presses the product out of
the cartridge and forces it through the feedline to the dispensing valve/eccentric rotor
pump.
When connected to a Controller 97152 or 97153, the regulated air pressure is available
at the unit when the controller is switched on. The piston can be switched to the forward
position, "keep in position" or piston backwards.
It will be depressurized automatically when the controller is switched off. No movement
of the piston is possible.
The amount of product dispensed is controlled by three main factors:
1. Amount of pressure pushing on the piston
2. Length of time the dispensing valve remains open
3. Dispensing Needle size
Level Sensor:
The dispenser will be depressurized automatically when the cartridge is empty. The
proximity switch is adjusted to the right position.

– An "empty” message will be present at the controller.
The indication “Empty” is visible on the LED of the proximity switch (LED off) and also
appears as blinking text on the digital display of the controller. In addition, the “empty”
error message is signaled with a beeping tone by the controller, see operating manual of
the controller.
As soon as the “empty” error message appears, the controller 97152 or 97153 will
automatically depressurize the dispenser. The return travel of the piston is performed
manually by the hand lever valve, see Section 5.2.
The cartridge dispenser should be under pressure only when dispensing or purging an
air bubble. Otherwise the cylinder has to be depressurized. The piston should not be
retracted. For this purpose mount the optional available pneumatically controlled 3/2-
way valve 8954820. Further information see sections 4.4, 4.5 and 4.6.
