6.7 Network
Use the Network Communication Settings to set up the IP commu-
nication of the device inside your network and to your data server.
This topic block shows the network settings which have either been
assigned automatically by a DHCP server or have been set
manually.
The device is usable with dynamic IP by DHCP or fixed IP.
n The “Hostname” ( Fig. 46/1) identifies the device in the net-
work, data recording files and protocols. Select the input field
and type a name that represents the installation location.
n Select “Use DHCP” ( Fig. 46/2) for automatic assigned IP
addresses, subnet mask, gateway, DNS and so on. A DHCP
server is required. “Use DHCP” is default upon delivery.
n “Static IP Address” ( Fig. 46/3) is available if “Use DHCP” and
“Use IPv4LL” are unchecked.
n “Subnet Mask” ( Fig. 46/4) is available if “Use DHCP” and
“Use IPv4LL” are unchecked.
n “Default Gateway” ( Fig. 46/5) is available if “Use DHCP” and
“Use IPv4LL” are unchecked.
n Click the “Save” button ( Fig. 46/7) to save all the settings in
the device.
n Click the “Reset” button ( Fig. 46/6) to go back to previous
settings.
Domain Name System servers translate FQDN (fully qualified
domain names) like "www.people-sensing.com" to an IP address.
Typically it is received from the DHCP server. If you use fixed IP
addresses and also use FQDN (instead of IP addresses) you need
to set the DNS.
n Select the input field and type an IP address for the preferred
( Fig. 47/1) and alternative ( Fig. 47/2) DNS Server.
n Click the “Save” button ( Fig. 47/4) to save all the settings in
the device.
n Click the “Reset” button ( Fig. 47/3) to go back to previous
settings.
