not require protection guards if the plant provides the necessary level of safety. Please note that the operator is res-
ponsible for complying with the current standard (DIN EN 13857) and can be held liable for accidents as a
consequence of missing protection systems.
17 Personnel qualification
– All electrical work as well as commissioning must only be carried out by qualified electricians.
– Installation, servicing and maintenance may be carried out by specialists (e.g.: industrial mechanics, mechatronics
engineers, metal workers or persons with comparable training) with the exception of electrical work.
18 Air flow direction and direction of rotation
m
WARNING
Parts ejected from the fan may damage your eyes!
Wear protective glasses when checking the direction of rotation!
m
WARNING
The rotating impeller can sever or trap your fingers/arms!
Operation only with mounted safety fittings!
Do not insert objects into the rotating impeller! Risk of damage!
The fans have a fixed motor direction of rotation which is marked on the units by an arrow (reverse operation not
possible).
The direction of rotation may only be checked when the fan is switched off and coasting!
19 Speed control with speed potentiometer (PU/A)
For variable and direct control or setpoint preset of EC fans with potentiometer input. Additionally equipped with
an enabling switch and LED-display for the operating status (dependent on fan type version). The potentiometer is
attached directly to the potentiometer input of the fan control system. Therefore, this has a potentiometer supply of
e.g. 10 V DC and a setpoint input of 0–10 V DC.
m
Activation / deactivation:
Frequent switching on and off of EC fans can be carried out via the 0-10 V control input by switching off the
control signal to 0 V. This applies to operation with an external potentiometer or external 0-10 V signal from
the building management system. Switching off is alternatively also possible via a release input, depending on
the type. This is gentle on the electronics and ensures a long service life. If this is not easy to realise, e.g. when
operating with an internal potentiometer, it can also be done by switching off the mains supply. In general, a
time interval of at least 120 seconds must be observed when switching the mains off/on.
m
In case of strong vibrations and/or noises, maintenance must be carried out by a specialist according to
chapter 1.7 „Personnel qualification“.
The maximum length of the control line must not exceed 30 m In case of a length over 20 m, shielded cables
must be used
