- If the phase sequence in the network corresponds to L1-L2-L3, the cable ends - to ensure that the rotation
direction of the pump is correct - must be connected in accordance with the diagram.
- The supplied adhesive plate with the performance data of the system must be attached to the control cabi-
net in such a way that it is easy to see.
- The control cabinet and any floodable distribution boxes must, in accordance with local regulations, be
placed in such a way that water can get into them under no circumstances.
- Ensure that the control cables / pump cables of excessive lengths do not dangle freely in the pit (make a
loop).
ATTENTION
The cable must not be exposed to any tension. The cable must be slack at all times.
Connection of earthing conductors
The green-yellow connections which are used for all cables of the electric pump must be
connected to the ground loop of the earthing system before any other cables are connected.
In contrast, when disconnecting the cables, the earthing cables are the last ones to be dis-
connected.
For electric pumps of the ex-protected version, an external additional grounding terminal is
mandatory. The installer is responsible for connecting this terminal to the ground loop.
ATTENTION
All electric pumps are equipped as standard with temperature sensors (cable ends labelled
with the symbols 4 and 5 or T1 and T2). They must be connected to a device suitable for
interrupting and resetting the power supply.
Thermostatic switches (Klixon) are bimetallic switches with closed contacts which are located in the motor
coil. If motor temperature exceeds 120°C in the Econex 2402, Ecovox 2403, Ecovox 2404 and Ecocut 2405
(1-stage) pump models or 132°C in the Ecocut 2406 (2-stage) pump models, the normally open contacts
open up and interrupt current flowing to the coil of the contactor relay, and as a result the electric pump
comes to a stop. The coil will be activated again as soon as the thermostatic switches (Klixon) have cooled
down. The maximum connection voltage of the thermostatic switches (Klixon) amounts to 250 V. They can
bear a maximum load of 1.6 A at cosφ = 0.6. The electrical connection should be 24 V and 1.5A.
ATTENTION
Electric pump with conductivity sensor
The conductivity probe is situated in the electric motor and measures possible water infil
-
trations. If the switch box is equipped with a device for measuring conductivity, this is only
activated when the electric resistance becomes, due to the presence of water, lower than
30 kΩ. In order to measure the possible conductivity, the cable end with the symbol “S” and
a branch connection of the end of the yellow-green earthing cable must be connected to the
device. The conductivity meter is typically used to close an alarm circuit, if water is detected
in the oil-separating chamber or in the motor. The alarm circuit may have an optical and / or
acoustic signal. For the pumps of the ex-protected version, the device must be compatible
with the classification for areas exposed to explosion hazards.
ATTENTION
Once the cables have been disconnected and reconnected again, the rotation direction
must be tested again. By doing that it can be ensured that the phases have not been inad-
vertently inverted.
For each phase, the current draw must be measured. Any irregularities must not exceed 5%. If greater ir-
regularities are found, this may be caused by the motor or by the mains. Measure the current draw with two
different connection motor / network possibilities, with double reconnections to ensure that the rotation direc
-
tion remains the same. The best possible connection is that for which the differences of the current draw
is the smallest for each phase. If the highest current draw is invariably found for the same phase, the main
cause for the uneven distribution is the mains. The use of INVERTERS and SOFT STARTERS can, if they
are not correctly set up and applied, cause damage to the pump station. If you are unsure what the causes
