TROUBLESHOOTING
PROBLEM CAUSE REMEDY
MILL
Decreased or low capacity
Mill not operating at the
recommended RPM speed.
Mill loses speed as material
enters it.
Hammers worn
Screen worn.
Blower inlet plugged.
Adjust tractor throttle to proper
RPM speed.
Adjust Mill/Blower sheave
alignment and/or drive belt
tension.
Flip/turn or replace hammers.
Rotate or replace screen.
Unplug.
Excess vibration.
Uneven flow of grain into the mill.
Excess RPM.
Mill bearings worn or defective.
Flywheel bearings worn or
improperly adjusted.
Hammers missing or broken.
Blower unbalanced.
Transfer grain into the mill as
smoothly as possible.
Operate at 540 RPM.
Replace bearings.
Replace and/or properly adjust
bearings.
Replace hammers.
Remove, balance & replace .
Excessive dust.
Blower inlet plugged.
Collector covered. Check & unplug.
Uncover collector while
operating.
Material not ground to desired
size.
Incorrect screen being used.
Mill speed too high or low.
Change screen diameter to
correct size.
Adjust to correct RPM speed.
Material will not flow through mill
hopper.
Mixer is sloped towards the
feeding side.
Material too damp.
Material too light or bulky.
Reposition mixer on level
ground.

Tank won’t unload or stops

Bridging in tank. Shut-off mixer and tractor, break
up bridging by probing through
the access doors.
Discharge door is not open all
