SECTION 5 MAINTENANCE

5.1 Cleaning the BODTrak Instrument

Use the following methods to clean the BODTrak instrument
after each test to assure accuracy of future BOD tests.

5.1.1 Sample Bottles

1. After each test, empty the sample bottles and rinse them

several times with hot water.

2. Use a brush and hot soapy water to remove deposits.

3. Residues create a BOD, so be sure to remove all detergents by

rinsing the bottles several times with tap water and finally with
distilled or demineralized water.

5.1.2 Stir Bars and Seal Cups

1. Rinse the stir bars several times with hot soapy water.

2. Use a brush to remove deposits.

3. Rinse several times with tap water and finally with distilled or

demineralized water to remove all detergent.

4. Wash the seal cups in hot soapy water to remove alkali

residue.

5. Rinse thoroughly and dry.
