Define terminal parameters (using the HyperTerminal on Windows XP as an example).
1) Select connection port
Select the serial interface to be used from the
Connect using
drop-down list in the
Connect To
dialog
box as shown below. Be sure to select the serial port to which the console cable is actually connected.

2) Set the connection port
Set the properties of the serial port in the
COM1 Properties
dialog box as follows:
z
Bits per second = 9600
z
Data bits = 8
z
Parity = None
z
Stop bit = 1
z
Flow control = None
Click
OK
and the HyperTerminal dialog box appears.
