USE IN STARTING MODE (START)
Prior precautions
• Do not disconnect the battery from the vehicle. If the battery is disconnected it can lead to information being lost and
possible failure in starting the vehicle.
Connecting and disconnecting
• Switch off the product by selecting position “0”.
• Connect the clamps: red to + terminal, black to – battery terminal. Select the correct voltage 12 or 24 V for the battery.
NEVER disconnect the battery from the vehicle
• Switch on the product by selecting “I”
• Proceed to pre-charge (if necessary) for a few minutes with a current of about 1/5th of the battery’s capacity.
• Sit behind the steering wheel in order to activate the remote control switch and the ignition at the same time.
• A 5 second period is usually enough to start. Repeat the operation if needed.
• When the engine’s motor starts, release the remote control switch and switch the device off - position « O ».
• Disconnect the clamps from the battery.
• In « Electronic Control » position, Gystart protects the on-board electronics and avoids overvoltage
(
: <14,8V
: <29,6V). In Manual position, this protection is not activated.
PROTECTIONS
This machine has been designed with maximum of protection:
- The charge clamps are fully isolated
- Protected against polarity reversals short circuits.
A double fuse (Ref. 054547) ensures the protection.
Fuse replacement can be done manually.
- Protection against transformer overloads or start-attempts in the charge position is ensured by a circuit breaker on the
front panel of the machine. If it trips, manual reactivation is needed.
- Thermal protection : your machine is protected by a thermostat (cooling takes approx 1/4h). A red indicator illuminates
in case of overheating.
SULPHATÉD OR DAMAGED BATTERIES
GYSTART devices cannot detect sulphated or damaged batteries.
a) Your battery is deeply damaged if, during the charging process, the ammeter’s needle points quickly to very high
level. In this case, it is not possible to restore it.
b) In case of a sulphated battery : Switch to the highest charge rate and regularly check if the ammeter indicates any
charge current. As soon as the charge current increases, switch to the charge rate suitable for the battery. If there
is no sign of current increase after 5 hours the battery is irrecoverable.
