Press wheel or row
units plugging.
Planting conditions too wet Wait until drier weather.
Too much pressure on row units Reduce down pressure on row units. See
“ Down-Pressure Adjustment ” on page 46.
Coulters set too deep, bringing up excess
dirt and moisture
Check coulter adjustment.
Planter not set to run level from front to rear Check tongue height. See “ Planter
Leveling ” on page 13.
Backed up with planter in the ground Clean out and check for damage.
Failed disk bearings Replace disk bearings.
Disks are worn Replace disks.
Press wheel or row
units plugging,

Scraper worn or damaged. Side depth
wheels not set correctly

Use of incorrectly shaped tire for conditions Wedge shaped wheels work best on narrow
spacings and in wet conditions. Round edge
wheels work best in wider row spacings and
drier conditions.
Planter not level front to rear Check tongue height. See “ Planter
Leveling ” on page 13.
Wheel stagger needs adjustment for
conditions
Adjust press wheel stagger. See “ Press
Wheel Stagger ” on page 50.
Too wet or cloddy Wait until drier weather or rework ground.
Marker functioning
improperly, or not at
all.
Marker switch not set correctly on rear aux
hydraulic selector valve
Left or right not selected. Set tractor remote
circuit to Neutral or Float before operating
switch.
Markers not raised or lowered fully to cycle
sequencing valve
Fully raise and lower markers.
Console not set to Field operation Set console to Field operation.
Air or oil leaks in hose fittings or
connections
Check all hose fittings and connections for
air or oil leaks.
Low tractor hydraulic oil level Check tractor hydraulic oil level.
Loose or missing bolts or fasteners Check all bolts and fasteners.
Marker disk does not
mark.
Marker folding linkage does not have
enough slack to allow marker disk to drop
into field depressions
Maximum down float should be limited by
slot at rod end of marker cylinder.
Disk angle too straight for soil conditions Reverse marker disk to pull or throw dirt.
