d. Retrieve shim configuration (1) (D) and place
flush with the right side of the spacer weldment
(3). Secure with a bolt and nut (2).
e. Retrieve shims configuration (1) (C) and place on
the far right lower pin weldment (B) and secure
with bolt and nut (2).
13. Repeat steps a through e to shift the shims on
other lower pin on hitch.
14. Connect the tractor lift arms to the lower hitch
pins.

Row Unit Lock-Up
Crushing and Sharp Object Hazards
Use extreme caution when raising and
locking up a row unit. Do not raise the row
unit using a block or with your hands. Do
not attempt to raise the row unit by hand
with several people. Opener disks may be
sharp. The row unit can snap down sharply
causing severe injury or even death.
Crushing and Sharp Object Hazards
Fully raise the planter before locking up the
row unit. Although the adjustment can be
made with the planter lowered, the springs
will be in tension, presenting dangerous
conditions which could cause machine
damage, or severe injury or even death.
Planter Damage Warning
Do not pin the row unit while in a lower
position. If the locking pin is inserted below
the parallel arm, unit damage will occur as
soon as planting begins.
On the twin row planters, row units have been
configured with one short opener mount and one
long opener mount. The row units with the short
opener mounts will be locked-up to convert a twin
row planter to single row planting operations.
Row Unit Lock-Up (3-Point Hitch)
1. Using the 3-point hitch, fully raise the planter.
2. Extend the tractor hydraulic fold lever to fully
unfold the planter.
3. Set the fold circuit to “Neutral” to prevent wing
droop.
4. Install the wing locks pins on the toolbar coupling.
5. Set the down pressure spring to cam notch to
zero. See “ Row Unit Down Pressure ” on
page 45.
6. Remove the locking pin from storage position (1).
7. Raise the row unit high enough to align the lock-
up hole (2) in the row unit shank and secure with
locking pin. It may be necessary to use a hoist or
jack under the shank extension to support the
row unit.
Row Unit Lock-Up (2-Point Hitch)
1. Extend the tractor hydraulic lift assist lever to
raise the planter. Keep the tractor lever extended
until the rear of the planter is fully raised.
2. Set the tractor hydraulic lift assist lever to
“Neutral”.
3. If necessary, install the lift assist lock cylinders.
4. Raise the front of the planter using the 2-point
hitch.
5. Extend the tractor hydraulic fold lever to fully
unfold the planter.
6. Set the fold circuit to “Neutral” to prevent wing
droop.
7. Install the wing locks pins on the toolbar coupling.
8. Set the down pressure spring to cam notch to
zero. See “ Row Unit Down Pressure ” on
page 45.
9. Remove the locking pin from storage position (1).
10. Raise the row unit high enough to align the lock-
up hole (2) in the row unit shank and secure with
locking pin. It may be necessary to use a hoist or
jack under the shank extension to support the
row unit.
