4. Place a drain pan under the transaxle and remove
the oil drain plug. After the transaxle is drained
disconnect the hydraulic reservoir supply hose at
the transaxle.
5. Jack the front of the unit up high enough to slide
the transaxle out from under it and securely block
unit.
6. Remove both drive wheel assemblies and
disconnect the brake rods at the cam lever arms.
7. Disconnect the hydraulic lift cylinders at the lift arm
weldments and tie wrap to foot board.
8. Remove the lift arm and pivot bracket weldments.
9. Remove the four bolts mounting and the transaxle
to the transaxle plate. See Figure 37.
10.Support the transaxle with a jack and remove the
four transaxle mounting bolts at the frame.
11.When lowering the transaxle support the rear of
the transaxle and carefully lower the transaxle from
the unit. See Figure 37 and Figure 38.
6.14 TRANSAXLE REPAIR
Axle Bearing Replacement
NOTE: The axle bearings can be inspected and
replaced without removing the transaxle from unit.
1. Place a drain pan under the transaxle and remove
the oil drain plug. Drain the transaxle.
2. Jack the unit at the appropriate axle and remove
the wheel assembly, hub, belleville springs and
key.
3. Remove the axle spacer, note the orientation of the
spacer, Figure 40.
4. Remove the four allen head bolts mounting the
back bendix plate to the axle housing.
5. Pull the axle and bearing out of the axle housing.
6. Press the bearing off of the axle, pressing the
bearing towards the threaded end of axle.
7. Inspect and replace any worn or damaged parts.
8. Press the bearing onto the axle.
9. Install the axle into the axle housing.
10.Install the axle spacer, see Figure 40 for proper
orientation of spacer (chamfer in).
CAUTION: The transaxle is heavy and
unbalanced. Use caution when removing the
four frame mounting bolts.
