4. Loosen the PTO drive shaft at both ends, at front of
transmission.
5. Remove the front two screen bolts and carefully
bend screen down far enough for access to the
lower transmission mounting bolts and spacers.
See Figure 21.
6. Disconnect the damper at the transmission pump
control arm and swing back out of the way.
7. Disconnect the neutral detent spring. See
Figure 23.
8. Disconnect the speed control rod and neutral
detent strap at the transmission pump actuating
arm.
9. Disconnect the oil cooler return and implement
supply hydraulic hoses at the transmission.
NOTE: When removing the transmission from the tran-
saxle use caution not to damage the mating surfaces
or input gear.
10.Carefully remove the four bolts and spacers
mounting the transmission to the transaxle.
11.Rock the transmission to the front and rear far
enough to disconnect the two drive shafts.
12.Remove the transmission from unit.

REPAIRS
Charge Pump
1. Transmission pump removal is not necessary, but
you will need to disconnect the flywheel drive shaft
from the transmission.
2. Note the orientation of the charge pump housing to
adjacent housing and mark to insure proper
relocation.
3. Clean the shaft extension to remove sharp edges,
burrs and abrasive residue to prevent shaft seal
damage.
4. Remove the hex head screws and slide the
housing assembly over the shaft holding the
charge pump (gerotor) cartridge and remove the
drive pin.
5. Remove the shaft seal and bearing from the
housing only if replacement is necessary.
6. Examine the wear surfaces of the pump cartridge
for excessive scratching or heavy wear patterns.
Replace both parts of this cartridge, if necessary.
Do not replace or interchange individual parts
within the cartridge. The drive pin should always be
replaced. Visually inspect the bearing, O-ring , and
shaft seal and replace as required.
7. Coat both sides of the pump cartridge and housing
face with oil.
8. Install the drive pin into the hole in shaft, then slide
the pump cartridge into place.
9. Wrap the shaft extension with plastic and then coat
with oil to prevent damage to the shaft seal.
