6.2 PRIMING THE TRANSMISSION
IMPORTANT: The transmission must be primed after
changing the oil or oil filter to prevent internal
transmission damage.
1. Remove implement plug, spring and cone. Pour
one pint of oil in port. Replace cone, spring and
tighten plug (Figure 17).
2. Run engine for 2-3 minutes.
3. Check for oil leaks at filter and plug.
4. Check oil level. Add as necessary.
5. Repeat steps 2-4.
6.3 TRANSMISSION COOLING SYSTEM
Debris accumulating on cooling fins on outside of the
transmission causes overheating. Check fins and clean
every fifty (50) operating hours. Check more often
under dusty, dirty conditions.
6.4 TRANSMISSION OIL FILTER
The transmission oil filter should be changed after the
first 50 hours of operation. Change the transmission oil
filter every 100 operating hours thereafter. It is not
necessary to change transmission oil each time the
filter is changed. Change the transmission oil with
every fifth transmission oil filter change. (Figure 18).
To change the transmission oil filter:
1. Position unit on a flat level surface.
2. Place a container under filter to catch oil spillage
as filter is removed.
3. Use an oil filter removal tool to unscrew filter.
Discard old filter.
4. Fill new oil filter with fresh, clean, same type oil
used in transmission to saturate the element.
NOTE: Some oil may spill out of filter as it is rotated
from vertical to horizontal position when installing it.
Keep container in place to catch spilled oil.
5. Lubricate gasket with oil and spin filter on threaded
adapter to gasket contact. Hand tighten additional
1/2 to 3/4 turn. DO NOT OVERTIGHTEN.
6. Fill transmission with new oil.
7. Prime transmission.
6.5 FLYWHEEL AND PTO DRIVE SHAFT
REMOVAL
1. Flywheel drive shaft removal:
a. To remove flywheel U-joint, remove the two bolts
connecting the U-joint to the transmission.
b. Remove the flywheel adapter plate by removing
the eight bolts connecting it to the flywheel.
CAUTION: Before changing the filter, turn
ignition "off", remove key and engage parking
brake.
