7. Description of the Hardware

7.5. References to Power Management

The GPSeye IN1 comes with a build-in accumulator with adequate capacity.

Every current GPS navigation system uses Almanac data

1

; these data have to be found

and loaded before computing the actual position etc.
GPS-receiver must get backup-voltage from the accumulator to hold the Almanac data.

Once the accumulator is exhausted, e.g. no connection to steady plus, the GPSeye IN1

has to receive the Almanac data after restart. This may take several minutes.

The GPSeye IN1 has several power saving-mechanisms, which are introduced in this

section.

7.5.1. Steady Plus

For the full functionality of the GPSeye IN1, it is urgently necessary to connect the device

to your vehicle in order to guarantee a 100% performance.

With the development of the Power Management, it was made sure to guarantee a high

functionality of the services with operation via the ignition of the vehicle.
However, this possibility is regarded only as security for the bridging in the case that the

power supply is not permanent.

The connection to “Ignition” of the vehicle is not to be recommended since it can result

in data loss after removing the ignition key. It is possible costs will increase by increased

system correspondence.
