6. Wait for 3 seconds, remove 

the dipstick again and check 
the fluid level.

Keep the dipstick pointed 
down to get an accurate 
reading.

Check both sides and read the 
lower level.

If the level is within the 

COLD

 

band, re-install the dipstick. 
You may operate the transmis-
sion until the fluid is hot 
enough to perform a hot 
check.

If the level is not within the 

COLD

 band, add or drain fluid 

as necessary to bring the level 
into the middle of the 

COLD

 

band. Re-install the dipstick. 
Then, operate the transmission 
until the fluid is hot enough to 
perform a hot check.

Always re-check the fluid level at 
least twice. Consistent readings 
are important for proper mainte-
nance. If readings are inconsistent, 
see your dealer.

When re-installing the dipstick, 
make sure to flip the handle back 
down to lock the dipstick in place.
