Passenger Sensing System

Your vehicle is fitted with the 
Passenger Sensing System.

The passenger sensing system 
turns off the front passenger's 
frontal air bag under certain 
conditions.

NOTE:

The driver's frontal air bag and 
the roof-mounted side-impact 
air bags are not part of this 
system.

When you start the vehicle, the 
system will perform a self-check.

The air bag "on" and "off" indica-
tors will appear briefly in the 
passenger air bag on/off indicator 
(located on the instrument panel).

When the system self-check is 
complete, one of the indicators 
will stay on to indicate whether the 
front passenger’s frontal air bag is 
on or off.

Sensors in the front passenger seat 
and safety belt detect the presence 
of an occupant to determine if the 
passenger’s frontal air bag should 
be on or off.
