Optima 300

. Function

.1 Controller Optima 300

Room control:

Room temperature is controlled by room sensor T2,

which is mounted on the control panel. E.g., if the

temperature has been set to 21°C, the compressor will

start when the temperature falls to 20.6°C. When the

compressor has heated up the room temperature to

21.4, the compressor will stop. If the compressor cannot

maintain the room temperature, the motor valve (units

with water re-heating surface), will begin to control the

temperature (PID control) when the room temperature

has fallen to 20°C.

For units with electric re-heating surface divided into

four levels, the first level will switch in when the room

temperature has fallen to 20°C. E.g. if the regulator

time is set to 3 minutes, the room sensor will wait three

minutes and then measure whether the room temperature

is now above or below 20°C, level 2 will switch in. When

the room temperature eventually reaches 20°C, the

electric heating levels will begin to switch off at 3 minutes

interval. If the room temperature rises to 22°C, the by-

pass damper function will regulate to full open, which is

the temperature start cooling has been set to. If the by-

pass function is ON, the by-pass damper would normally

open, but if the temperature outside is (T3) 1° C higher

than the extracted air (T7), then the by-pass damper will

close to use the “free” cooling of the damper
To ensure that the by-pass and cooling function does

not switch in at a too low external temperature, a limit

temperature of e.g. 15°C may be programmed (point 8

in the operating menu). When cooling begins, the supply

and extract air fans will switch to speed 3 and the cooling

valve MA 7 will open, so that the condenser on the supply

air side becomes the cooling surface and the cooling
surface on the escaping air side becomes the condenser.

When the room temperature has decreased 1° C, the

compressor hand the fans will return to normal operation.

The cooling valve MA 7 will not shot down, when the by-

pass function has closed.

If extra cooling equipment is mounted on the unit, this will

switch in when the room temperature is 2°C higher than

start cooling. Units with electric pre-heating surface, will

perform control in the same way as the electric re-heating

surface.

Defrosting:

When the temperature difference between the

temperature upstream of the cooling surface and the
temperature of the cooling surface becomes too large,

as happens when ice is formed on the cooling surface,

the unit goes into defrost mode. The magnetic valve
MA 4 opens and the supply air fan and the electric
heating surface, stops until the ice has melted and the
cooling surface has reached a temperature of app.

5°C (depending on the set point in menu 50). Then the

magnetic valve closes again and the supply air fan and
electric heating surface resume operation.

. Extra capacity

Electric element:

If the heating need is larger than the coverage of the VP/

VPC, a supplemental electric element (option) may be set

to ON in the main menu with a short-cut key.

.3 Operation safety

High pressure switch:

To prevent the compressor exceeding its range of

application, there is an integral high pressure switch,

which interrupts when the pressure becomes too large.

Activate the red reset button once the cause of the error

has been identified.

Override control of supply air fan:

If the supply air temperature rises to over 45°C, the

speed of the supply air fan will begin to rise, in attempt to

stabilise the supply air temperature at 45°C.

Override control of extract air fan:

If the exhaust air temperature rises to over 45°C in

cooling mode and the extract air speed at level 3 is

not set to 100%, the extract air fan will increase speed

attempt to stabilise the exhaust air temperature at 45°C.

.4 Alarms

Filter timer

To ensure that the filters are changed, and an optimal

operation is maintained, the controller has a filter timer

(please se point 14 and 15). When the timer reaches

the chosen value the display will read “change filter” and

the red Genvex logo will flash until the filters has been

changed.

Data error

This error will be shown, if no communication is possible

between the display and controller. Please control the

cable connection on the clips 21 – 24.

Frost alert

This error is shown if a water coil is installed in the

system and the temperature of the water coil is to low.

Then there is a risk of frost damage. The controller will

stop the unit and open the valve to the water coil to keep

the coil warm.

Pressure switch error

When the high pressure switch interrupts, the display will

read “Pressure switch error” and the red Genvex logo will

flash until the red reset button is activated.
