Chiller
The Rocket 4D must be installed on a level
and sturdy work surface with provision for:
A 75 mm air gap between the
evaporator cooling-vents and any other
object
A connecting hose from the evaporator
exhaust to an appropriate laboratory
fume-extraction system
Connection of the power cables to
mains power-supply outlets (there are
two power cables for the Rocket 4D
and a third power cable for the chiller)
Connection between the Rocket 4D
and the chiller (the hoses supplied for
coolant feed and return, are two metres
in length)
Connection between the Rocket 4D
and the vacuum pump (the vacuum
hose supplied is three metres in length)
Access for maintenance and general
operational requirements.
Waste solvent
For Rocket 4D batch systems only, a waste
solvent container, large enough for single
batch evaporation, is supplied. For handling
larger solvent volumes, alternative waste
solvent handling arrangements may be
set-up.
When calculating the volume requirement for
a waste container, an approximate ratio of
20:1, product solution to rinse solvent may
be assumed.
Note:
A small volume of water (from the
outer chamber) will be mixed with the waste
solvent. If this is undesirable, custom
methods can be provided to optimise
performance in favour of waste solvent
recovery. Contact your local Genevac
representative to enquire about custom
methods.
The evaporator is supplied with a
re-circulating chiller.
Place the chiller within two metres of the
evaporator, either on the bench or on the
floor. Instructions for connecting and setting
up the chiller are provided on the following
pages. If required, refer to the chiller
operating manual for additional installation
instructions.
Warning:
Risk of bursting glass.
Before connecting and alternative
chiller, make sure the maximum
coolant inlet pressure will not be
exceeded. See:
