Using staff consoles and annunciators

Telligence Patient-Staff Communication System Operation Manual

Cleaning staff consoles and annunciators

Cleaning mode temporarily deactivates the touch screen, so you
can clean the staff console or annunciator without activating the
onscreen buttons.

1. On the staff console or annunciator, select the More tab.

2. On the Admin screen, press Clean, then press OK. The staff

console or annunciator enters a 15-second cleaning mode
period.

Note:

By default, the unit remains in cleaning mode for 15 seconds,

but this setting can be changed. For instructions on changing the
duration, see the installation manual provided with your Telligence
system

Cleaning the screen

The touch screen can be harmed by the fibers in regular cloth,
which make microscopic scratches that can add up over time, so we
highly recommend the following:

1. Slightly moisten a soft cloth (preferably, a lint-free eyeglass-

cleaning cloth, or at least a microfiber cloth) with a diluted
window-cleaning solution.

2. Follow the above steps to place the staff console or annunciator

into cleaning mode.

3. Use the cloth to gently clean the surface of the touch screen.

4. Use a dry, soft cloth of the same type (a lint-free eyeglass-

cleaning cloth, or a microfiber cloth) to gently dry the surface of
the touch screen.

Notes

• Do

not

use a paper towel, tissue, or camera lens paper, all of

which are too abrasive, to clean the touch screen.

• Do

not

spray the touch screen with any liquid; the staff console

or annunciator‘s electronics can be damaged if drops of
moisture seep into the housing.

Cleaning the housing

1. Slightly moisten a soft cloth with the disinfectant typically used

by your facility‘s maintenance staff (e.g., Sidex, Staphine, or a
10% bleach/water solution).

2. Follow the steps listed at the start of this section to place the

staff console or annunciator into cleaning mode.
