Installing the Filter Cartridge
1. Align top of
fi
lter with
cartridge holder and push until
cartridge is fully seated.
2. While continuing to ensure
cartridge is fully seated in the
holder, gently rotate the
fi
lter
(inward for BF models) until it
can no longer rotate. If rotation
is dif
fi
cult, check to ensure
fi
lter
is properly aligned and fully
seated within the holder.
3. Run water from the dispenser
(approx. 2 gallons or about 5
minutes) to clear any particles
and remove air from the
system.
4. Reset Filter Status.
Touch Screen Models:
Access RESET button thru the Water
Filter menu.
Non-touch Screen Models:
Press and hold the Reset Filter
button for three seconds.
Note:
A newly installed water
fi
lter cartridge may cause
water to spurt from the dispenser during the
fi
rst 5 minutes
of operation. Use a large pitcher or sports bottle to catch the
water spray.
Note:
It is normal for water to appear discolored during the
initial system
fl
ush. Water color will return to normal after
fi
rst few minutes of dispensing.
Filter Bypass Plug
To reduce the risk of property damage due to water leakage,
you
MUST
use the
fi
lter bypass plug when a replacement
fi
lter cartridge is not available. The dispenser and icemaker
will not operate without either the
fi
lter or bypass plug
installed. The bypass plug is installed in the same way as a
fi
lter cartridge.

Water Filter Cartridge
The water
fi
lter cartridge is located in one of the following
places:
- In the left-hand fresh food door (recessed in the door
fl
ange).
- In the fresh food interior on the left side wall, near the top.
When to replace the fi lter cartridge
The
fi
lter cartridge should be replaced
every six months
or earlier if the
fl
ow of water to the dispenser or icemaker
decreases.
Touch Screen Models:
A
fi
lter status message will appear on
the screen when the water
fi
lter needs to be replaced. The
fi
lter status message must be reset manually.
The Water Filter: Replace status message can be reset by
entering the Settings menu from the home screen. Then,
select the Water Filter menu and press the RESET button.
This will reset the
fi
lter status.
Non-touch Screen Models:
A
fi
lter indicator message will
illuminate in the screen when the water
fi
lter needs to be
replaced. This light must be reset by pressing and holding the
Reset Filter button for three seconds.
The
fi
lter cartridge has an expected life of six months and
should be replaced when indicated by the
fi
lter indicator on
the refrigerator, or sooner if a signi
fi
cant reduction in
fl
ow
occurs.
Removing the fi lter cartridge
To replace the
fi
lter,
fi
rst remove the old cartridge by gently
lifting the
fi
lter away from housing until
fi
rst release, then lift
again to remove.
DO NOT TWIST
. A small amount of water
may drip out.
